38 years of craft was hiding behind a plugin-heavy WordPress theme. We built a hand-designed static site with a smart photo-upload quote form and local SEO across ten Auckland areas.

CoverMania is a one-person Auckland workshop run by Sebastian Obermeier, a German-trained master sailmaker with 38 years in the trade and a 4.9-star Google rating from 56 reviews. Custom boat covers, shade sails, awnings, upholstery: every job measured off the real thing.
His website said none of that. It was a YOOtheme WordPress template propped up by 15+ plugins (sliders, builders, caching, security patches), slow to load, generic to look at, and expensive to keep hosted.
Worse, enquiries arrived with no useful detail. A quote for a boat cover depends on what the boat looks like, and the old contact form couldn’t take photos, so Sebastian burned hours driving to marinas just to look at jobs.
We rebuilt the site on Astro 7 and Tailwind CSS 4 as a fully static site on Netlify: no database, no plugins, nothing to patch. 301 redirects map the old WordPress URLs across.
Instead of a template, we designed a "workshop editorial" system derived from the trade itself: tailor’s-chalk yellow, canvas-paper backgrounds, stitch-line dividers, job-ticket mono labels, and hard cut edges. It looks like nothing else in the industry because it is drawn from his actual workshop.
The quote form is a three-step flow: pick the service, describe the job with dimensions and location, and upload up to five photos. Sebastian now sees the job before he quotes it. A filterable 42-photo gallery with before/after sliders, six service pages with FAQs, six maintenance blog articles, and LocalBusiness schema carrying his 4.9-star rating complete the build, with ten Auckland areas and five marinas targeted for local search.
See the job before you quote it. The photo-upload quote form means enquiries arrive with images, dimensions, and location attached: no more driving across Auckland just to look at a boat.
