> THE PROBLEM
Onehunga Power Tool Centre had outgrown their WooCommerce store. Stock levels on the website drifted from reality because inventory lived in MYOB, and every mismatch meant refund emails and annoyed customers.
The catalogue of 2,677 products across brands, categories, and price tiers was too valuable to lose and too big to re-enter by hand. And with years of accumulated Google rankings on product and category URLs, a botched migration would have quietly erased their organic traffic.
They needed a real platform: live inventory, secure payments, accurate shipping rates by region, customer accounts, and an admin that staff could actually use.
> WHAT WE BUILT
We built a custom store on Next.js 14, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Prisma, hosted on Railway. All 2,677 products were migrated from WooCommerce via the WP REST API (images, descriptions, categories, and pricing preserved), with 301 redirects generated for every legacy URL so rankings carried over.
MYOB AccountRight Live is integrated for real-time inventory, pricing, and invoicing: the website and the accounting system finally agree. Payments run through Verifone with 3D Secure 2.0, and shipping is calculated automatically from NZ Post zone-based rates.
Customers get accounts with order history; staff get a comprehensive admin dashboard for products, orders, and content.
