How we merged five incompatible supplier networks (REST APIs, CSVs, SFTP drops) into one live, searchable catalogue for a 30-year-old Auckland print business.

Of trade, one storefront

Cloudbase Print & Promotions is an Auckland promotional products and print business with 30 years in the trade. Their catalogue lives across five separate supplier networks (Trends, The Catalogue, AS Colour, Legend Life, and Cloke), each with its own data format. Some expose REST APIs; one delivers a CSV over SFTP.
Buyers had no single place to browse everything. Staff were stuck answering "do you have X?" questions that a website should have answered, and the old WordPress site had rankings they couldn’t afford to lose in a rebuild.
They needed one storefront: real product photography, live stock awareness, a quote-first enquiry flow, and internal pricing tiers that never leak to the browser.
We built a Next.js 16 platform with Payload CMS and PostgreSQL on Vercel. Each supplier has its own sync client and transformer that normalises products into one unified model: variants, stock, branding options, and internal pricing tiers that never reach the browser.
Products without images are automatically hidden, so the catalogue always looks professional. Buyers get search, category and type filters, and a supplier directory. Enquiries flow through a Turnstile-protected form with S3 file uploads and Resend email delivery.
We generated redirects from every old WordPress URL so existing search rankings carry over, and wrote a Vitest test suite around the sync and transform layer so a supplier changing their feed format breaks a test, not the live site.
Five data formats, one catalogue. Every supplier structures products differently. The unified product model means the storefront code never touches raw supplier data, so adding a sixth supplier is a transformer, not a rebuild.
